The Global Imams Council (GIC) unequivocally condemns the heinous and cowardly act of terrorism outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, France. This malicious attack, targeting innocent worshippers and attempting to instill fear within the Jewish community, is a reprehensible assault on the values of peace, tolerance, and coexistence that we hold dear.

The GIC stands in full solidarity with the Jewish community in France and worldwide, and we extend our heartfelt prayers for the swift recovery of the injured police officer. We call upon authorities to bring the perpetrator to justice swiftly and to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of all religious communities. Any form of violence, particularly that which is motivated by hatred and bigotry, must be met with the strongest condemnation and unwavering resolve to prevent such acts from recurring.

The GIC remains committed to promoting interfaith harmony and denouncing all forms of antisemitism, extremism, and terrorism. We urge leaders and communities worldwide to unite in the fight against hate and to reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, mutual respect, and the protection of human dignity.

The GIC Deputy in France, Imam Mehdizadeh, stands ready to provide any assistance that may be required by the authorities and offers the full support of the Muslim communities to help ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens. He can be reached at: HQ@imams.org.
