Following the successful event in Dubai, Stage II for the Culture of Peace Initiative took place in Rome, Italy, between March 1-2, 2023. The Hon. Senator Ester Mieli hosted the session and agreed to initiate a Senate Working Group on the culture of peace to support the initiative as a model for the other EU member states. The GIC’s role was to advise the Senator on the methodology of combating extremism, hate speech, Antisemitism and racism of all kinds.
Alongside the Fmr. President of Romania, The Hon. Emil Constantinescu, The President and Vice President of The Global Imams Council addressed the Faculty of Jurisprudence (Law) at Sapienza University in Rome, and delivered an outline of the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition’s initiative to develop a joint curriculum of peace. The symposium was hosted by the Chair of Religion and Law at the Faculty of Law.
