In a significant step toward promoting a message of peace, senior members of the Global Imams Council (GIC) Middle East Division convened at the esteemed Najaf Seminary ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan 2025. The gathering included religious leaders from across Iraq, including Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad, and Basra, as well as representatives from Oman, Qatif in Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
The meeting, held at the seminary’s headquarters was organized under the directive of the GIC’s Governing Committee. Discussions focused on aligning speeches, sermons, and community initiatives to advocate for peace, counter extremism, and promote religious moderation during Ramadan.
Participants emphasized the need for a unified approach in addressing contemporary challenges, reinforcing the principles of coexistence, and combating the ideological threats posed by Islamist extremism. Strategies were outlined to ensure that sermons delivered throughout Ramadan convey messages of tolerance, social harmony, and ethical responsibility.
The Global Imams Council is committed to strengthening interfaith and intrafaith dialogue during the Holy Month of Ramadan, ensuring that religious leadership plays a constructive role in fostering global peace and stability. The GIC reaffirms its commitment to working collectively in guiding Muslim communities toward a more peaceful and harmonious future.
