In keeping with its mission to promote peace, coexistence, and national harmony, the Global Imams Council has issued an urgent letter to Public Safety Canada concerning the upcoming “Khilafah Conference 2025,” organized by the Islamist extremist organization, Hizb ut-Tahrir. Scheduled to take place in Hamilton, Ontario, this event represents a direct affront to the democratic principles and multicultural values that form the foundation of Canadian society.
As an organization with a well-documented history of spreading divisive and extremist rhetoric, Hizb ut-Tahrir has been banned in over 17 countries worldwide. Its ideology not only threatens national unity but also isolates Muslim communities and endangers vulnerable youth.
The GIC firmly believes that such gatherings, under the pretext of free speech, jeopardize decades of progress made by Canadian Muslims in promoting inclusivity and dialogue; and we stand by our commitment to safeguarding social cohesion and protecting communities from radical ideologies.
